Board Hears Recommendation for 6-12 Attendance Center Boundaries
At the Monday, June 24 Waukee Board of Education meeting, administration presented a recommendation for attendance center boundaries for grades 6-12. In addition, a timeline for implementation was included in the recommendation. The recommendation includes the following feeder system (option 1):
The recommendation for implementation for grades 6-9 is the start of the 2020-21 school year, and the start of the 2021-22 school year for grades 10-12 when Northwest High School is scheduled to open.
The recommendation is a result of nearly 18 months of work including meetings with the boundary committee, administrators, teachers, parents and input from the public forum and the online survey. The full presentation can be viewed in eBoard.
The Board is currently scheduled to take action on the recommendation at the July 22, 2019 meeting.
We are excited about the future of our district and the continued academic, activity, athletic and leadership opportunities for students!
